The brief to this project was simple “Provide a new accessible ensuite bedroom to an existing three bedroom semi-detached property without impacting on the existing ground floor layout.”
The introduction of a link space between the existing house and the new bedroom ensured that no alterations to the existing ground floor layout were required. It also allowed the existing direct access to the rear garden to be retained from the living area while ensuring there is no loss of natural light. The vaulted ceiling with its roof lights ensures the bedroom feels bright and airy at all times, the use of the corner windows, with their low cill levels, provides a visual link from the bedroom to the garden and back to the house through the kitchen window.
